point and shoot sharpness

Can anybody explain how come point and shoot cameras are sharper than full frame DSLR? PS's pixel is 4 sq. microns. DSLR's 64 micron. difference is ~12 times. PS sensor is 35 sq. mm. DSLR 864 sq. mm. Diff'ce 24

There B three big reasons:
1) depth of field will be greater on the smaller sensor due to smaller sensor size and
2) lens apertures on P&S are not so wide.
3) pixel density is higher on P&S camera.

Dese reasons mean that when photo taken, more area in front and behind subject will B in focus and look sharper in bright conditions. Plus P&S in your example has more pixel density, so will have higher resolution.

But SLR shot, done right, will be sharper under more conditions (dim light, moving subjects, portraits, etcetera). The SLR is better at gathering light, which means U can use faster shutter speeds and/or have less image noise. And on SLR, U can use more sophisticated lens too.
